Roof Painting

Done properly, from preparation to final coat

Roof painting is about the coating: cleaning the surface, priming it properly and applying topcoats made for roofs. We don’t do roof restoration work such as re-bedding or re-pointing ridge capping, replacing broken tiles or repairing leaks. If the inspection shows the roof needs that kind of work, we’ll tell you, so a roofer can fix it before it is painted. Canberra’s mix of hard frosts, hot dry summers and strong UV is tough on roof coatings, so preparation and a coating system suited to the roof material matter more than the colour on top.

A safety note on older roofs: some roofing materials installed before the 2003 asbestos ban, including some pre-1990 fibre-cement roof sheeting, may contain asbestos. Roofs like these must never be pressure-washed, sanded or drilled. We’ll assess the roof and advise before quoting, and we recommend testing if there is any doubt. Inspection & advice
We check the roof material, its condition and safe access, and tell you if anything needs a roofer before it can be painted.

Cleaning
Dirt, moss and lichen are removed, by pressure cleaning only where the roof material makes that safe.

Priming
A primer or sealer suited to tile or metal goes on first, with any surface rust on metal treated and spot-primed.

Coating
Topcoats are applied in your chosen colour, then we check the finish with you and leave the site clean.
